The powerful have a different conception of God than the dispossessed.
Power tends to justify its own existence. So we are to take that into a Christian sense, we see the powerful's conception of God as the one who parted the Red Sea, the being who created Earth from the particles of the cosmos, the entity that struck down the Tower of Babel.
The dispossessed do not see God in that grand, physical way. Our God is the whisper from the fiery bush; Lazarus rising; and the quiet prayer on the cross. There is no craven desire for power, but only a plea for justice.
