…how come, the sitting president at the time, George Bush, went on to serve a second term in office? Did society absolve him of his mistake in invading and occupying Iraq because he is white but did it condemn Colin Powell instead? My belief is that it did.

Powell showed the myth of integration. A Black man in power will still be treated like a Black man out of power when it all hits the fan. It was Powell's success and his temperament, despite his politics, that makes him such a complicated figure for Black personhood.
