One of the goals of American conservatives, as we read in Jamelle Bouie's chapter "Citizenship" is to get rid of the birthright citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment. Their goal is rooted in anti-Blackness, to. be able to strip Black personhood of the constitutional protections that we only gained in the 1960s. They want Black people, despite our presence here, to be a people without a map.
